From the Jamestown Post Journal
Due to a grant from the New York State Office of the Attorney General to the Chautauqua County Land Bank in 2013, funding is available for municipalities to partner with the Land Bank on residential demolitions within their boundaries.
Through an agreement with the Land Bank, municipalities will be granted up to 75 percent of the cost of demolition, not to exceed $12,500 per structure. The residential structures need to be owned by either the municipality, the county or the Land Bank, and the 25 percent match from the municipalities can be in the form of landfill tipping fee credits, in-kind work provided by the municipality (use of equipment, manpower, etc.) or a cash contribution.
The cities of Jamestown and Dunkirk recently entered into partnerships with the Land Bank to support local demolition strategies and several rural municipalities are in the process of signing agreements to participate.
