Vacant lots that result from demolitions or foreclosures are often entered into the Chautauqua County Land Bank's Side Lot Program. This program allows for us to transfer a vacant lot to a neighbor who will commit to maintaining it and merge the parcel with their properties to put it back on the tax rolls. Purchasers generally pay below market value for the vacant lot and the Chautauqua County Land Bank often pays the closing costs associated with the transfer of the deed.
The goal of the Side Lot program is to assist neighbors and communities with the transfer and reuse of vacant lots in ways that add value to surrounding properties
